ARUBAspotter: "Direct ABA VOR" with Aruba Flight Simulator Club

After I moved to Aruba two and a half years ago, I joined the Aruba Flight Simulator Club as an active member, promoting flight simulation in Aruba and providing new members any assistance they may need. A month ago, one of our members suggested we should go for a hike in national park "Arikok" where the "ABA VOR" is situated on top of Arikok Hill.

VOR? What's that?
VHF Omni Directional Radio Range (VOR) is a type of short-range radio navigation system for aircraft, enabling aircraft with a receiving unit to determine their position and stay on course by receiving radio signals transmitted by a network of fixed ground radio beacons. (source: Wikipedia).

So, this Saturday morning we woke up early - according to my standards its was very early for an off day - and drove to Parke Nacional Arikok to visit the VOR and to enjoy the rugged nature at the north coast of the island. It was definitely a very fun day!
